Dig a well before you’re thirsty!

Prevention is the best strategy.

Ahh, those elusive good days… when sleep is refreshing and we wake up full of energy, our mood is balanced, our mind is sharp and we move like a well-oiled machine to accomplish our tasks with grace and ease. We’d sure love more of those!

Life, though, includes the other kind of days too. Days full of seemingly unavoidable stressors — deadlines that keep us up at night, tension headaches from staring at our phones, back pain from poor posture, irritable bowels, allergies, menstrual cramps, sports injuries or joints that creak with arthritis. The quality of our lives starts to feel diminished bit by bit.

We might take a medication — and another, and another — but, to quote a song lyric that stuck with me since the 80s:

“The large print giveth, the small print taketh away.”

-Tom Waits

The troubling side-effects aren’t always worth it. Some are downright dangerous. We sometimes take pills that aren’t even working just to feel like we’re doing something about our problem. Hmm… that can’t be right.

But we know that good days aren’t built on pills. They’re built on healthy habits. We don’t wait to get cavities before we start brushing our teeth, and brushing them seven times on Sunday can’t make up for neglecting them all week. Prevention truly is the best investment, and an old Chinese proverb captures it plainly:

“It’s wise to dig a well before you’re thirsty.”

-The Yellow Emperor

Don’t wait for health problems to pile up. Get empowered with healthful options to stay well, to perform at your best and to thrive. Getting empowered means getting proactive, and regular acupuncture can be part of your prevention plan.

Come in and feel better!
